Kintan Japanese BBQ, Oxford Street, London

Project overview

Kintan Japanese BBQ on Oxford Street, London was designed to deliver an authentic and interactive yakiniku dining experience in one of the capital’s busiest and most recognisable retail destinations. This restaurant fit-out project focused on creating a distinctive interior that combines the social energy of Japanese barbecue dining with a warm, contemporary hospitality environment tailored to central London customers.

The scheme brings together bespoke booth seating, integrated smokeless grill tables, natural timber finishes, textured brick surfaces, soft green accents, and carefully layered lighting to create a restaurant space that feels immersive, welcoming, and operationally efficient. The result is an interior that supports both the theatre of table grilling and the practical demands of a high-traffic dining venue.

This project reflects our experience as a London restaurant fit-out specialist, delivering hospitality spaces that combine technical coordination, brand identity, and customer experience within a cohesive design and build solution.

Design and concept

The interior concept for Kintan Japanese BBQ Oxford Street was developed to reflect the communal and sensory nature of authentic Japanese yakiniku dining. The design balances contemporary urban character with natural textures and warm material contrasts, creating a space that feels modern while still rooted in the social tradition of shared grilling at the table.

Timber booth structures, green feature panels, exposed-style brick finishes, dark ceiling elements, and suspended lighting all work together to create depth and atmosphere throughout the restaurant. Decorative greenery and carefully framed feature walls reinforce the brand identity, while the layout of the booths introduces rhythm, intimacy, and visual structure across the dining floor.

The overall concept was to create a memorable restaurant interior that feels lively yet comfortable, supporting both day-to-day service and the distinctive experience of guests cooking their own food around built-in grills.

Layout and residential functionality

The layout was carefully planned to support efficient service, clear customer circulation, and a flexible dining environment suited to a busy Oxford Street location. The restaurant combines booth seating, bar seating, and open dining arrangements to accommodate a range of guest types, from smaller parties and casual walk-ins to larger group bookings.

Built-in smokeless roasters are integrated into the table design, forming the centrepiece of the yakiniku experience while maintaining a clean and organised dining setup. Booths help create a semi-private and comfortable environment for group dining, while the bar and front seating areas provide additional flexibility and support smoother customer flow during peak trading periods.

The design prioritises both hospitality performance and guest comfort, ensuring that the restaurant remains highly functional while delivering a strong branded experience and an engaging atmosphere.

Delivery and fit-out

This Oxford Street project was delivered with a strong focus on hospitality durability, technical coordination, and consistent finish quality. Particular attention was given to the integration of smokeless table grills, ventilation considerations, bespoke seating elements, lighting installation, and durable restaurant-grade materials capable of performing in a high-volume central London setting.

The fit-out scope included front-of-house dining areas, bar installation, fixed seating, decorative features, lighting, finishes, and coordinated operational elements throughout the restaurant. Materials were selected not only for their visual appeal but also for their practicality, ease of maintenance, and suitability for a busy Japanese BBQ dining environment.

Kintan Japanese BBQ, Oxford Street demonstrates our ability as a London fit out contractor to deliver specialist restaurant interiors that combine authentic dining concepts, robust technical planning, and a memorable customer experience.
