This project involves the design and construction of a contemporary family residence located within a countryside setting in Buckinghamshire. The new build home has been carefully designed to combine modern architectural principles with the tranquillity and openness of the surrounding rural landscape.
The property features spacious living areas, large glazed façades, and carefully planned outdoor spaces that connect the house with the natural environment. Design and concept
The architectural concept centres around a contemporary barn-inspired form, characterised by pitched roof structures, clean lines, and natural materials. Timber cladding and dark metal detailing create a refined yet understated appearance that complements the rural surroundings.
Large floor-to-ceiling glazing allows natural light to flow throughout the interior while framing views of the landscape. The design carefully balances openness and privacy, creating bright internal spaces that feel connected to nature.
The building massing is arranged to create a series of interconnected volumes, allowing different areas of the house to serve specific functions while maintaining a cohesive architectural identity.
Layout and residential functionality
The internal layout has been designed to support modern family living with open-plan living and dining areas that form the heart of the home. These spaces extend directly onto outdoor terraces, encouraging seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor environments.
Upper-level rooms benefit from elevated views across the surrounding landscape, while carefully positioned glazing maximises daylight and spatial openness. The design also incorporates practical elements such as integrated storage, garage access, and efficient circulation throughout the house.
Outdoor areas include landscaped gardens, terrace spaces, and a swimming pool zone that enhances the leisure and lifestyle aspects of the property while maintaining a harmonious relationship with the countryside setting.
Delivery and construction
From initial concept through to construction delivery, the project required close coordination between design, engineering, and construction teams to ensure the home meets modern building standards while achieving the desired architectural quality.
